Ngemelis

This is a tale of two lovers, who could not be together. To hide their forbidden love, they planned to meet at the island of Ngemelis every full moon. Their first meeting, the woman lost her grass skirt.

Upon meeting for the second time, they were enjoying each other’s company when eventually they noticed a turtle on the moonlit beach. Tangled in the turtle’s flipper was the woman’s grass skirt from the last full moon. Thanks to the forbidden lovers, the lunar egg-laying cycle of the sea turtle was discovered.
