Meduuribtal

This story takes place in the village of Ngibtal, in ancient Ngiwal. There lived an elderly unwed woman. She struggled to find food to eat without a husband to fish for her, so her son, who was a demi-god, blessed the breadfruit tree in her yard. Out of the branch of the tree, fish and sealife from the ocean began to flow. Thus, the elderly woman was able to eat abundantly on her own.

Eventually, the villagers took notice and grew envious. They plotted together to cut down the breadfruit tree, only to discover that the entire ocean would begin flooding out of the stump, sinking the village of Ngibtal underwater. This legend is a cautionary tale about the importance of conservation and the dangers of jealousy.
